Hello, my name is Deanne Greenwood BSc (Hons), and I am a Medical Herbalist, based in Cornwall.

For me, Cornwall is a very special place. I love living here, I love working here, I love growing and wild harvesting my herbal medicines here.
I believe it is a natural healing environment, and its inherent energy helps me to help others.
I also love working with people, who come to me with a very wide range of health problems (please see my testimonials).  Herbal medicine really can help with anything.

HOW I WORK

The words of the Greek physician Hippocrates (460BC), below, sparked my interest in holistic healing, 30 years ago.

‘It is more important to know the person who has the disease, than to know the disease the person has’

Hippocrates

Hippocrates also believed that diet, lifestyle and other environmental influences play an essential part in good health and wellbeing. Experience has taught me how true his words are.

THE HEALING PROCESS

Herbal medicine works from the basis that we are all different. No two people are the same, physically or psychologically. We get ill for different reasons, and in different ways. We also heal in different ways.
Therefore it is the individual person that is treated, not the ‘disease’. Or, as I see it, the dis-ease. That is, the imbalance that has occurred in the body.

THE ROOT OF ILL HEALTH

We need to get to the root of ill health, rather than simply alleviating symptoms, to truly heal. And we need to support the whole body – the whole person – as part of that healing process.

DIET AND LIFESTYLE

Diet and lifestyle, and the empowerment of the individual, are as important as herbal medicine in a person’s journey to physical and emotional good health and wellbeing. A consultation with me will therefore always include a discussion and advice about diet and lifestyle, and a sharing of thoughts and energy.

‘Herbs alone can’t make you better. And neither can I. We need to work together.’

QUALIFICATIONS

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Herbal Medicine – a degree course that included medical sciences as well as herbal therapeutics. I am trained in pharmacology, so will be familiar with any medication you are taking and possible interactions with herbal medicine, and also in conventional diagnostic techniques, ie, those used by medical GPs.
I am fully insured, and regularly participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

TESTIMONIAL

Following a Crohns disease diagnosis, I spent over a year taking various types of prescription medication, including steroids. I was in a constant cycle of taking the medication to resolve the flair and then waiting for it to start all over again.

Deanne’s approach was totally refreshing. Together, we looked at the bigger picture, using herbal medication to support my body, initially in conjunction with the prescription meds. This allowed me to enter remission and reduce my prescription meds.

I am now completely free of prescription meds and feel so much better for it. It would be no exaggeration to say I feel ten years younger! I have more energy, I feel better and my Crohns is under control.

Deanne’s approach, supporting and advising me, as opposed to dictating, worked really well for me. We came up with a plan, and made lifestyle changes that worked for me. At the time of writing, I am gradually reducing my monthly herbal tincture, and feeling much better than I thought was possible”
