CBD (cannabidiol) oil is a medicinal plant product I recommend to some patients. In my practice, I have found it particularly helpful for pain relief, alleviating anxiety, lifting low mood, insomnia and digestive/IBS problems. There are a number of scientific studies that support these findings.
CBD oil can have a synergistic effect when combined with other plant/herbal medicines, and it seems to be particularly effective when taken in this way.
The CBD oil I use does not contain the psychoactive component of cannabis, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). All CBD oils sold in the UK (without a medical prescription) are legally required to contain less than 0.2% THC.
If you are interested in trying CBD, I am happy to advise on which oil might be best suited to you, and how to take it – whether on its own, or combined with other herbs. This would be part of a full consultation, during which I will be asking the same questions as I would in any herbal medicine consultation (see The Consultation), and advising on diet and lifestyle – both essential components of holistic healing and living.
